LodgeGate no longer stores credit card data and together with PaybyLink we are waving credit card data storage.

Since the beginning of this 2021, LodgeGate has phased out storing credit card data in our software and database.

Since "Keying" will disappear in the future, the need for having a guest's credit card number has become obsolete. Therefore, we have decided to focus on developing the 2-way connection with PayByLink.

PCI/DSS compliant
This also makes PayByLink our answer to PCI/DSS rules from the credit card companies.
Being able to see, store and process card numbers (via phone, mail or OTAs) is not compliant with the PCI/DSS standard of the credit card companies and therefore, in case of a hack and fraud, you run the risk of high fines. By sending out a payment link by mail, card numbers remain safe at the Internet checkout and you work in compliance with the PCI standard.

Secure 3D Secure transactions
LodgeGate waves out credit card data
PayByLink is widely used by LodgeGate hotels and users find it very secure and a pleasant alternative to the old credit card number guarantee method. Telephone credit card acceptance, via an eTerminal or manually at the POS terminal, take place without 3D/Secure. As a result, these transactions can be easily disputed afterwards (chargeback) and lead to penalties. Through the payment link, Verified by Visa, MasterCard Securecode and SafeKey (Amex) realize this security and you have payment guarantee.

Cost savings
By working securely with 3D/Secure and in compliance with PCI/DSS, the credit card company can offer you lower
charge. That's advantageous. But through the payment link, your guests can also pay with
iDEAL, Giropay, Bancontact and other payment methods that are cheaper and guaranteed.

SCA impact booking platforms
The European Strong Customer Authentication legislation stipulates that during an online payment, it must be verified that the rightful owner is paying himself (see 3D/Secure). Card numbers transmitted to you via a booking platform can therefore no longer be processed by yourself. Instead, LodgeGate sends a payment link to your guest via PayByLink.

Improved liquidity and fewer no-shows

In doing so, the hotel itself has immediate access to the prepaid amounts and is not dependent on virtual credit card restrictions by OTAs or disputes by the guest. By using a payment link to pay directly, you realize many advantages. Not only do you strengthen your liquidity (instead of waiting for payment at check-out) but it turns out that prepayment can result in as many as 50% fewer no-shows!
